His choices were 1) an apartment where in a newer building with more amenities at a higher cost or 2) a house without the restrictions of an apartment, fewer amenities but with lower rent. Lauren Luna (B.F.A. ’00, Painting) has let nothing get in her way of her goal of making a living as an artist. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she moved to New York City shortly after graduating 51������ University with her B.F.A. and then ultimately to the city of Houston, Texas in 2011 to realize her dream. Last spring, a COVID-19 outbreak overwhelmed a local nursing home in Geauga County, with cases among patients and healthcare staff jumping from seven to 31 overnight. Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2020 includes 51������ alumnus David C. Lange, BA ‘75, who interrupted his own education at 51������ to enlist in the U.S. Navy.  Lange, who lives near Malvern, Ohio, told Cleveland.com earlier this year that following his freshman year at 51������, he entered the Navy and “after my military discharge in December 1971, I returned to 51������ and majored in journalism, which led to a 40-year newspaper career.” The Canton Repository reports that Lange’s journalistic career took him to four newspapers in Northeast Ohio.
